Seattle police are continuing their investigation into a fatal shooting at a local food festival that left three people dead and four others wounded, with authorities urging witnesses to come forward with information.
One suspect has been taken into custody, while another remains at large, according to preliminary reports. Police officials stated that they believe there may be additional suspects and are actively working to identify and apprehend them.
"There are witnesses. They're not coming forward," said one official, appealing to the public for assistance. "We need people to be brave, to reach out to us. You can do so anonymously. We know that we have people who probably have evidence or have information that they can share with us."
Democratic Rep. Pramila Jayapal, whose district includes the Seattle Center where the shooting occurred, expressed horror at the incident. Speaking at a press conference, Jayapal indicated that city and state officials were coordinating with federal agencies regarding the shooting.
"My heart goes out to the victims, their families, and our whole Seattle community," Jayapal stated on social media platform X. Officials also commented on the broader issue of gun violence in the United States in the wake of the event.
