Authorities and family are urgently searching for Jana Armstrong, 30, who was last seen Tuesday afternoon in the Toowoomba suburb of Newtown, Queensland. Her disappearance is considered highly out of character, particularly as she left without her four-month-old child.
Ms. Armstrong's white Hyundai Kona was discovered Wednesday morning at the intersection of Jellicoe Street and Gordon Avenue. Police and loved ones have expressed grave concerns for her welfare. Forensic officers were observed at a Gordon Avenue unit on Thursday, speaking with a man who subsequently left in a police vehicle.
Ms. Armstrong's sister issued an online plea for any information, stating that her nephew is safe. "Please if you know anything reach out," she wrote, expressing extreme concern for her sister's well-being.
Amelia Street, a friend of Ms. Armstrong, described her to the ABC as a "gorgeous soul" and "an angel on Earth." Ms. Armstrong worked as a carer, according to Ms. Street.
On Thursday, Queensland Police and the State Emergency Service (SES) conducted extensive searches across multiple areas of Toowoomba. The search included Black Gully Reserve, located approximately 500 meters from the Gordon Avenue unit.
Ms. Armstrong is described as Caucasian, standing about 165 centimeters tall, with blue eyes and brown hair. Police are urging anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers.
