An extensive search is underway for Angelica Brophy, a 44-year-old emergency room nurse and mother of two from Oceanside, California, who has been missing for over a week. Brophy was last seen on July 6 near Palomar Mountain in San Diego County.

Her car was discovered parked at Doane Valley, a location near a trail where she frequently hiked, according to the Oceanside Police Department. Authorities have been unable to ping her cellphone, indicating it is either turned off or its battery has died. Search and rescue teams have been combing the trails of Palomar Mountain State Park without success.

Brophy visited Harrah's Casino earlier on the day she disappeared. Police are also investigating her time at the casino. There is currently no indication of foul play, according to the Oceanside Police. Family members have described Brophy as a vibrant individual who loves life and is devoted to her children. Her sister-in-law, Lisa Fabregas, told NBC San Diego that Brophy is a wonderful, thoughtful, and funny woman.

Family members are distributing missing person posters throughout North County in hopes of generating leads. Brophy was last seen wearing black leggings and a gray t-shirt. She works as a nurse at Kaiser Hospital in San Marcos.
