Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton responded to an assessment by former NFL lineman Geoff Schwartz regarding quarterback Bo Nix's performance. The exchange occurred on social media after Schwartz, filling in on FS1's "First Things First," offered his perspective on Nix.

Schwartz, when asked if Nix would improve in his third NFL season, suggested that the quarterback was largely what he had already shown. "I do think he just is what he is at this point. He looks like the same quarterback he was in college," Schwartz stated on air. He added, "He’s consistent. He’s not gonna make mistakes. But he’s not gonna push the ball down the field all that often." Schwartz also noted that Nix's passing yards tend to be short, with advanced statistics placing him in the middle of the NFL, and suggested Payton needed to encourage him to throw more passes between the hashes.

While Schwartz acknowledged the Broncos' efforts in tailoring the offense to Nix's strengths, Payton's response on X focused on the former player's critique. Payton posted, "Always easy to tell who works at it and who doesn’t." The post implied a critique of Schwartz's analytical approach.

Community notes on X pointed out that since the beginning of the 2024 NFL season, Nix has thrown more touchdown passes of at least 20 yards than any other quarterback in the league.
