Sean McVay, head coach of the Los Angeles Rams, has issued an apology for his brief and abrupt departure from his postgame press conference following the team's 30-26 loss to the Denver Broncos.
McVay faced criticism after leaving the press conference after speaking for less than two minutes, an action perceived by some as disrespectful to the media who had questions. The incident occurred shortly after the controversial loss on Sunday.
During a press conference on Monday, McVay clarified the situation and apologized for any misunderstanding. "I’m sorry that I missed you guys yesterday…it was never my intention to miss your questions. I’m sorry if there was a misunderstanding," McVay stated, according to The California Post's Michael Duarte.
Rams Vice President of Communications Artis Twyman had previously addressed the situation on social media Monday morning. In response to a comment from Nate Atkins of The Athletic, who noted McVay's quick exit, Twyman explained that media members were informed that those wishing to attend the postgame news conference should leave the press box at the five-minute mark. Twyman indicated that Atkins' choice to stay until the end of the game resulted in him being late for the conference.
