Sean Giancola Steps Down as CEO and Publisher of New York Post Media Group
Giancola, who led the company for over seven years, will remain through early next year to aid in the transition.

Sean Giancola has announced his departure as CEO and publisher of New York Post Media Group, concluding more than a decade with the organization. Giancola, who held the chief executive position for over seven years, will continue in his role until early next year to facilitate a smooth handover as the company searches for his successor.
"Leading the New York Post Media Group has been an immense privilege," Giancola stated. "I am incredibly proud of the work that’s been accomplished over the last seven-and-a-half years, from expanding our iconic brand into a truly national publication, to innovating across digital platforms and to bringing the Post’s world-class reporting to more readers than ever before."
During his tenure, Giancola oversaw significant expansions and digital transformations for the media group. He was instrumental in the launch of The California Post, extending the brand's reach to Los Angeles with its characteristic bold reporting. This expansion also included the establishment of Page Six Hollywood and a new entertainment newsletter.
Under Giancola's leadership, the New York Post Media Group returned to profitability after a period of losses. The company has also invested in digital innovation, launching mobile apps for The New York Post and The California Post. This summer, the company introduced Hamilton, a personalized AI tool integrated into its apps to assist readers in finding and understanding news.
Robert Thomson, chief executive of News Corp, The Post's parent company, acknowledged Giancola's contributions, stating, "Sean has been a savvy steward of the Post during a period of profound media upheaval, and his transformative leadership helped the Post turn profitable for the first time in decades." News Corp Chairman Lachlan Murdoch and Rupert Murdoch, chairman emeritus, also recognized Giancola's work.
Giancola joined The Post in 2015 as chief revenue officer. His prior experience includes roles as vice president of national sales at AOL Advertising and senior advertising and marketing positions at American Express and Time Inc.
