Sean 'Diddy' Combs' prison release date has been moved up once more, now scheduled for February 5, 2028. This latest adjustment from New Jersey's Federal Correctional Institution (FCI), Fort Dix, comes after previous shifts, including a recent change to February 20, 2028, which followed a prison altercation.

Combs, 56, began serving a four-year, two-month sentence in October 2025 after a jury convicted him on two counts of transporting prostitutes across state lines. He was acquitted of more serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking during his federal trial in July 2025. The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed the updated discharge date, though the agency typically does not comment on individual inmate details for privacy and security reasons.

Since his sentencing, Combs' release date has seen several fluctuations. Initially slated for release in the summer, the date was subsequently moved to April, then February, then January, and now February 5, 2028. The reasons for these frequent changes have not been officially disclosed.

Reports indicated that Combs was placed in solitary confinement following a prison fight at FCI Fort Dix. Multiple sources claimed the altercation occurred after another inmate insulted Combs. Guards reportedly separated the individuals, and Combs was subsequently moved to solitary confinement. A spokesman for FCI Fort Dix declined to comment on the alleged incident, citing privacy and security protocols.

Combs' representatives have denied claims of rule violations, including a reported incident involving an unauthorized three-way phone call and consuming a fermented concoction. A statement on his behalf asserted his focus on personal growth and returning to his family, emphasizing sobriety and self-discipline as priorities.

Combs' original sentence was set to conclude on May 8, 2028. This date was later adjusted due to a prison reform law known as the First Step Act, which has facilitated early releases for numerous individuals. Further adjustments saw the date move to April 25, 2028, then April 15, 2028, and more recently to February 23, 2028, before the latest change to January 24, 2028. The Federal Bureau of Prisons stated that "for privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for any incarcerated individual, including release plans or specifics regarding why a release date changes."

Following his prison term, Combs is also subject to five years of supervised release. The presiding judge emphasized the need for a significant sentence for deterrence, expressing doubt that such crimes would not recur if Combs were released without one, and condemning his "savage" abuse of ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
