Sean "Diddy" Combs' federal prison release date has been rescheduled to February 20, 2028, pushing back his anticipated exit from custody by nearly a month. This change comes after reports emerged that Combs was placed in solitary confinement following an altercation with another inmate at FCI Fort Dix.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons has not confirmed the specific reasons for the release date adjustments, citing privacy and security protocols. A representative for the Bureau stated, "For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not release information regarding the conditions of confinement for any inmate, including housing assignments, nor do we discuss whether a particular inmate is the subject of allegations, investigations, or sanctions."
Reports from multiple outlets indicated that the alleged prison fight was instigated by a remark made by a fellow inmate to Combs. The rapper was subsequently reportedly moved to solitary confinement. It remains unclear whether this incident directly impacted the revised release date.
Combs was sentenced in October to over four years in prison after being convicted in July on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was arrested in September 2024 on federal sex trafficking charges, which followed months of accusations, lawsuits, and investigations. Surveillance video that appeared to show him assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura also surfaced prior to his sentencing.
A jury acquitted Combs of more serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking by force, coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. The prosecution had recommended a sentence of 135 months, or just over 11 years. In addition to his prison term, Combs faces five years of supervised release and a $500,000 fine.
Combs' representatives declined to comment on the reports regarding solitary confinement or the revised release date.
