Sean "Diddy" Combs' projected prison release date has been moved up by one month, from February 23, 2028, to January 24, 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. The adjustment follows an altercation Combs had with another inmate, which led to him being placed in solitary confinement.
Combs, 56, is currently serving a four-year sentence at Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey for prostitution-related charges. The fight reportedly occurred after Combs felt he was disrespected by a fellow inmate, leading him to "take matters into his own hands." Prison staff intervened to separate the individuals.
Details surrounding disciplinary actions or specific inmate information are not publicly disclosed by the Bureau of Prisons or FCI Fort Dix due to privacy and security concerns. An insider alleged that Combs "held his own" during the incident.
This is not the first adjustment to Combs' release date. He was initially scheduled for release on May 8, 2028. In November 2025, his release date was pushed to June 4, 2028, after he allegedly violated multiple prison rules, including consuming "homemade alcohol" and participating in a prohibited three-way phone call. Combs' legal team filed to appeal his four-year sentence in December, seeking immediate release or a reduced sentence, a request that prosecutors opposed in February.
Combs has been incarcerated since his September 2024 arrest. He was charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He was found guilty in July of last year on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and acquitted of the other charges. The rapper was transferred from Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center to Fort Dix following his sentencing.
