More than 148,000 students across Scotland are anticipating the release of their exam results on Tuesday.

Schools, colleges, and training centers submit estimated grades for all candidates to Qualifications Scotland prior to students taking their exams. Should a student believe their grade is inaccurate, the initial step is to consult with their educational institution. The school can then contact the exam board on the student's behalf to request a review of their marks. Individual students also have the option to submit their own appeals.

These appeals undergo a marking review, which verifies that marks have been correctly tallied and submitted, and that the marking adheres to national standards. Appeals can be prioritized for students with conditional university or college placements, or for those whose training or employment prospects are dependent on their grades.

The deadline for students to submit a priority appeal is August 11, with a deadline of August 25 for all other appeals. If an appeal is submitted by a school or college, the deadlines are August 20 for priority cases and August 28 for others.
