Scott Eastwood, son of legendary filmmaker Clint Eastwood, has spoken out about instances of what he describes as "shocking behavior" among Hollywood actors, suggesting that prolonged fame can lead to a sense of entitlement and a lack of accountability.
During a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Eastwood recounted a specific on-set spat with an unnamed A-list actor. "Some of the accountability in this industry is just unbelievable," he stated. "I just worked with somebody and, without saying any names, people get too famous for too long and think the world owes them something."
Eastwood explained that the situation escalated when the unnamed star decided they no longer wished to work on a film after pre-production had already begun and significant investment had been made. "We started working on a film with a director, and they decided after we'd already spent a bunch of money that they just didn't want to work with this other person," Eastwood said. When Eastwood suggested the individual should repay the invested money, the response was, "I'm not gonna do that."
The actor emphasized that this kind of behavior would not be acceptable in other professional fields. "They just left because they didn't want to work with another person after we'd already started pre-production," he recalled. "I've seen some behavior in this business that's shocking behavior that wouldn't fly in any other industry."
Scott Eastwood credited his father, Clint Eastwood, with instilling a strong work ethic and providing a grounding influence. He noted that growing up and witnessing industry dynamics firsthand helped him understand how not to behave. "I think I was lucky in some ways because I got to see it growing up and got to see how it's bulls***," he commented.
He also praised his father for protecting him and his siblings from the intense scrutiny of the spotlight, enabling them to have a more normal upbringing. The family lived in Carmel, away from the typical Los Angeles scene, allowing for a more grounded childhood. "He was like, 'No, you just need to be a normal child and learn how the world works,'" Scott Eastwood said of his father's approach.
Eastwood further elaborated on his and his father's professional philosophy, treating acting strictly as a job. He stated that neither he nor his father engage in method acting, preferring to leave the work at the studio. "My dad was never like that. He was like, it's a job. Like go to work, do the best you can, put in the reps, make sure you know your s*** and you come prepared, and you have something interesting, but leave it at the door," he said.
