The normally tranquil village of Boat of Garten, located in Scotland's Cairngorms National Park, experienced a significant transformation this week to accommodate a lavish party hosted by American billionaire Stephen Schwarzman. Security personnel and crews descended upon the area, converting the local train platform into a temporary venue featuring a decorated dining area.
The platform was initially named "McD's Station Buffet" before being rebranded with a neon sign reading "Doone's Station." Preparations included rehearsals for an extravagant cabaret act by dancers, magicians, and puppeteers. Schwarzman, 79, a former adviser to Donald Trump, arrived at the station via a motorcade of black Range Rovers.
During the event, guests were greeted by two Highland cows.
Schwarzman is understood to have traveled on the Royal Scotsman train as part of a three-day tour. Meanwhile, his £300 million super yacht, Destiny, was observed sailing near the isle of Kerrera en route to Oban.
The temporary stage and elaborate setup, which included a BBQ area and vintage street lamps, are estimated to have cost around £350,000. The use of the historic steam engine from the Strathspey railway for the event is thought to have incurred an additional cost of approximately £18,000.
The party, attended by approximately 20 guests, prompted preparations to cater for an estimated 200 to 250 security guards and crew at the nearby Boat of Garten Golf and Tennis Club. The stage was erected over the weekend and was scheduled for dismantling by Thursday, following the event.
Schwarzman is known for hosting high-profile parties, having previously reportedly featured Scottish rocker Sir Rod Stewart at his 60th birthday celebration in 2007. Representatives for Mr. Schwarzman have been contacted for comment.
