A school bus crashed into an apartment building in Brooklyn on Thursday morning after striking a tree and careening into a service road.
The incident occurred around 7:20 a.m. on Eastern Parkway near Albany Avenue in Crown Heights. Police and law enforcement sources reported that the bus, which was not carrying any children, struck a tree before ramming into the side of the building. Dramatic video footage showed the bus screeching upon impact and masonry from the building falling onto the vehicle.
The 65-year-old driver was unharmed and declined medical attention at the scene. Authorities initially took the driver into custody, but later confirmed that no charges would be filed. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
The impact left the facade of the apartment building significantly damaged.
