Scarlett Moffatt has announced the death of Janice, the mother of her fiancé Scott Dobinson. Moffatt, 35, shared the news on Sunday via Instagram, expressing her grief and noting that Janice would not be present to meet their second child, who is due soon.

Moffatt and Dobinson, who have been a couple since 2018, are already parents to a son named Jude. Moffatt revealed in April that the couple was expecting another child, a boy.

In her tribute, Moffatt wrote, "My heart is broken for Scott and all of his family at the loss of his mam Janice." She described Janice as "the best Nanna to Jude, the kindest mother-in-law and one of the loveliest people I've ever known." Moffatt added, "I'm so upset that you won't get to meet your second grandson but I know you will be watching over us all, I'll forever be grateful for all the love, kindness and warmth you showed me from the very beginning, and especially for the love you gave Jude."

Moffatt also reflected on Janice's character, stating, "You raised true gentlemen in both your boys, and that says everything about the incredible woman you were. We will miss you more than words can say. Sleep peacefully Janice, our Nan Jan."

Earlier this year, Moffatt shared details about her pregnancy, expressing her desire for a boy to give Jude a brother. "All my family and friends knew I wanted another boy," she told The Mirror. "Of course it would've been wonderful to have had a girl – a healthy baby is all that matters – but my preference was a boy, to give Jude a brother. I'm just so happy for him. He's got someone to share his life with now."

The couple announced their second pregnancy in April with a video on Instagram featuring an ultrasound image and their son Jude. Moffatt described the moment as "unbelievably lucky to be able to say… our family is growing." She also mentioned their "challenging four-year fertility journey" before welcoming Jude in June 2023. Moffatt also detailed a difficult first trimester, describing it as "hell" due to experiencing pregnancy side effects including sickness, hot and cold flushes, and migraines.
