Savannah Guthrie expressed her gratitude to actor Allison Janney for a surprise tribute during Janney's Emmy Award acceptance speech. Janney, who won an Emmy for her role in the Netflix series "The Diplomat," took a moment to acknowledge the public's attention on Guthrie's missing mother, Nancy Guthrie.

"I honestly can say I think about her every day and think about the loss and what Savannah and her family are going through," Janney said backstage after her win. "It truly, it just took over — and I don’t think I’m alone, too. I think all of America was thinking about her."

On Tuesday's installment of NBC's "Today," Guthrie appeared emotional when discussing Janney's remarks with co-anchor Willie Geist.

"I was so touched to see her do that," Guthrie said. "It was her moment of her triumph, and for her to sit and just take a moment and think about our family."

Guthrie shared that she and her siblings are still experiencing profound pain following their mother's disappearance. "We just want our mom home, give her a proper goodbye. That’s all."

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31. In the weeks following her disappearance, investigators received several notes that were initially considered credible, including one demanding $6 million in cryptocurrency. While the FBI later determined some notes were fake, the case has continued to be investigated as a kidnapping for ransom. Surveillance footage showing a masked individual at Nancy Guthrie's home on the night of her disappearance remains a key lead, though no suspects have been publicly identified.

Savannah Guthrie returned to "Today" in April after an extended leave and has regularly acknowledged her mother on social media. In June, she briefly appeared in a "Today" segment detailing her mother's disappearance.
