Savannah Guthrie recounted a surprising prediction made by Lady Gaga in 2014, when the singer correctly guessed the gender of Guthrie's first child. The anecdote resurfaced on Monday's episode of the "Today" show, following news that Lady Gaga and her fiancé, Michael Polansky, have welcomed their first baby.

At the time of their 2014 interview, Guthrie was pregnant with her daughter Vale but had opted not to learn the baby's sex. "When I was pregnant with Vale and we didn’t find out if it was a boy or a girl, Lady Gaga came on and she said, 'I think you’re having a girl,'" Guthrie recalled. When asked how she knew, Gaga reportedly responded, "She told me."

Guthrie's "Today" co-host Jenna Bush Hager expressed astonishment at Gaga's intuition. Guthrie added, "They had a psychic message in utero."

Guthrie and her husband, Michael Feldman, welcomed Vale in August 2014 and their son, Charles, in late 2016.

Lady Gaga, 40, and Polansky, 42, recently became new parents, with their child's name, sex, and birth date not yet publicly revealed. The couple were photographed with a newborn shortly after the news broke, according to Page Six. Gaga had maintained a low public profile since wrapping her latest tour in April and was last seen in public in August during a fan encounter in Northern California.

Gaga and Polansky became engaged in April 2024 and reportedly began dating in 2019. The couple have been living in Marin County, California, in a $10 million mansion. Pregnancy speculation surrounding Gaga began in mid-2024, a few months after their engagement.

In previous public statements, Gaga expressed a desire for motherhood. During an appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" in October 2025, she stated that motherhood would be her "next starring role." In March 2025, speaking with The New York Times, she shared her excitement about becoming a mother, noting, "I’m also kind of at war with myself sometimes as I get ready to, hopefully, become a mom soon."
