Savannah Guthrie has made an emotional public plea for information six months after her mother, Nancy Guthrie, disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona, home. Authorities are investigating the disappearance as a kidnapping.
"Today marks six months since our beautiful mom was taken from us," Guthrie, co-anchor of NBC's "Today," said in an Instagram message on Saturday. She directly addressed those responsible for her 84-year-old mother's vanishing, urging them to "do the right thing" and reveal her whereabouts. She reminded the public that a reward is available for information that helps solve the case.
This appeal follows the public release of two ransom notes allegedly sent by the kidnappers. The first note demanded $4 million in Bitcoin, threatening to increase the amount to $6 million if not paid promptly. A subsequent message claimed that Nancy had died shortly after her abduction due to her fragile health and had been buried "in nature."
Despite the disturbing messages, Guthrie stated that her family is continuing their search and has not given up hope. She encouraged anyone who might recognize details within the ransom notes to contact investigators.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen on February 1, when surveillance footage showed a masked intruder tampering with her doorbell camera. Blood matching Nancy's DNA was later discovered inside the residence. Law enforcement officials and the FBI are continuing their investigation and are seeking information from the public. A combined reward exceeding $1 million has been offered for information leading to answers in the case.
