Savannah Guthrie recently reunited with her former “Today” show co-host Hoda Kotb during a temporary break from the NBC morning program. Kotb shared a photo on Instagram of the two smiling and embracing, with the caption, “My favorite place… next to you ❤️ @savannahguthrie.”
Guthrie has been off the air for several weeks as she films a new game show based on the popular word puzzle, Wordle. She announced her departure on July 16, stating the break would last "a few weeks." The program, produced by Jimmy Fallon, is slated to premiere in 2027, and Guthrie was announced as its host in May.
During Guthrie’s absence, Craig Melvin has been providing updates on the show. Guthrie was not present when Melvin was confronted by an intruder on the “Today” show set earlier this year.
In addition to filming the game show, Guthrie has been navigating the ongoing disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie. The elder Guthrie was last seen in late January. Savannah Guthrie has publicly addressed the situation, pleading with potential captors in an emotional video on August 1, marking six months since her mother's disappearance. "Do the right thing," she urged. "If you know anything — anything at all — please come forward."
Guthrie took a two-month leave from the “Today” show earlier this year to deal with her mother’s abduction. She returned in April. Kotb had filled in for Guthrie during that period.
