Savannah Chrisley's Fiancé Jason Galanis' Troubled Past Revealed Amid Pregnancy Announcement
Details emerge about Jason Galanis' prior marriage, financial liabilities, and prison sentence that overlapped with Savannah Chrisley's father's incarceration.
Savannah Chrisley, 29, recently announced her engagement and impending first child, but new details have surfaced regarding her fiancé, Jason Galanis, 56, and his past financial entanglements and personal relationships. Galanis was sentenced to over 15 years in prison in 2020 for his involvement in multiple multi-million dollar fraud schemes. His sentence was later commuted by President Donald Trump on March 28, 2025.
Galanis served time at the same Pensacola, Florida, facility as Chrisley's father, Todd Chrisley, for more than eight months in 2023. Chrisley explained on her podcast that she and Galanis met through "the world of politics" last year while she was seeking a presidential pardon for her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were convicted of tax fraud.
Before his incarceration, Galanis was married to his ex-wife, Monet Berger, for ten years before they separated in May 2016. Berger filed for divorce in August 2017, citing irreconcilable differences. In her divorce petition, she alleged that Galanis forged her name on tax documents and that she was a victim of his crimes. She further claimed she was unaware of the extent of financial liabilities during their marriage and eventually received compensation from the Victim's Defense Fund. A court entered a judgment in April 2018, dissolving their putative marriage, finding it was not legally registered. The court also determined that Galanis had over $100 million in liabilities, including significant personal guarantees and forfeitures, though the current status of these debts is not publicly available.
Chrisley announced her engagement and pregnancy on Tuesday via Instagram, sharing a montage of clips with her fiancé. She referred to him as her "protector, fiercest fighter and safe place," praising his patience and ability to make her laugh. She stated she feels safe and fulfilled for the first time in a long time, and that Galanis's love for their unborn child has deepened her own love for him.
Chrisley and Galanis began dating in July 2025, a few months after her parents received their pardon. He proposed in December of the same year. Addressing the 27-year age gap, Chrisley stated that Galanis "doesn't act his age" and that she prioritizes their connection over chronological age difference, preferring "20 phenomenal years with someone than 50 meh years with someone."
Following scrutiny of their relationship, Chrisley took to Instagram to defend her unborn child, writing, "You are not a headline. You are not a controversy. You are not defined by anyone’s past, anyone’s mistakes, or anyone’s opinions." She emphasized that her child is "innocent, deeply loved, and the greatest blessing" and that no external noise will overshadow her joy in being a mother.
