Savannah Chrisley Defends Unborn Child Amid Backlash Over Engagement to Jason Galanis
The reality star addressed criticism regarding her pregnancy and her fiancé's past, emphasizing the innocence of her child.
Savannah Chrisley has publicly defended her unborn child, addressing the backlash she has received concerning her pregnancy and engagement to Jason Galanis. Galanis, 56, is a convicted fraudster with a significant age difference from Chrisley, 29.
Chrisley shared an ultrasound image on her Instagram Stories, accompanying it with a message asserting that her child is "innocent, deeply loved and the greatest blessing." She stated, "You are not a headline. You are not a controversy. You are not defined by anyone’s past, anyone’s mistakes, or anyone’s opinions." She added, "No amount of noise in this world will ever overshadow the joy of being your mama. You are my answered prayer. And I will never apologize for celebrating you."
Chrisley announced her pregnancy and engagement in an Instagram video. While she did not initially name her fiancé, Us Weekly identified him as Galanis. Galanis was previously associated with Hunter Biden and testified in the Republican impeachment inquiry into former President Joe Biden in March 2024. He was serving a prison sentence of over 14 years, handed down in September 2020 for his involvement in schemes that defrauded a Native American tribe and investors. His sentence was commuted by President Trump in March 2025.
Galanis shares a connection with Chrisley's father, Todd Chrisley. Both received pardons from President Trump, though for different convictions. Todd and Julie Chrisley were pardoned in May 2025 following their convictions for tax evasion and bank fraud. Notably, Galanis and Todd Chrisley served time concurrently at the Federal Prison Camp in Pensacola, Florida, with their prison terms overlapping from January to August 2023.
Savannah Chrisley addressed the age gap between herself and Galanis on her podcast, "Unlocked." She stated, "I have always said, ‘I would rather [have] 20 phenomenal, unbelievable years with someone than 50 just [fine] years.’" She described Galanis as not looking or acting his age, praising his physique and intellect.
