Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reportedly urged President Donald Trump to deescalate tensions with Iran and refrain from launching further airstrikes, according to a report citing U.S. officials and another source. The Saudi leader called the president on Saturday to voice concerns over potential new strikes.

A U.S. official stated that the Saudis "expressed concern and asked for clarity about the plan of action." The White House had signaled on Friday that Trump was considering new strikes against Iran as part of efforts to pressure Tehran into reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The administration is also seeking Iran's adherence to a truce agreement forged last month, which has since collapsed.

During a televised cabinet meeting at Camp David, President Trump had previously vowed to strike Iran, stating, "We will be hitting them very hard and you know at some point, they're going to say, 'We just can't take it anymore.'"
