Saudi Capital Airport Attacked Again, Officials Say
King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has been targeted multiple times this week.
The airport in Saudi Arabia's capital was attacked again, according to two regional officials. The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media, stated that King Khalid International Airport has been evacuated and air traffic has been halted.
This is not the first incident this week. Three Saudi civilians, including a pilot, were killed in attacks on the airport on Thursday. Iran-backed Houthi rebels in neighboring Yemen have claimed responsibility for those earlier attacks. There was no immediate statement from the Houthis on Saturday.
The airport issued a brief alert advising passengers to confirm their flights with their respective airlines before traveling to the airport.
The fighting in Yemen has intensified, with the Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces clashing with Houthi rebels. A Saudi-led coalition is providing air support for the government forces in an effort to counter recent Houthi advances along the Red Sea coast.
