'Saturday Night Live UK' Mocks Shane Gillis' Controversial 'SNL' Monologue

A segment on "Saturday Night Live UK" has targeted comedian Shane Gillis' recent monologue on the U.S. "Saturday Night Live," focusing on his remarks about women's gym attire.

During the "Weekend Update" segment on the UK show, comedian Ania Magliano referenced Gillis' appearance on the American sketch comedy program. "A ride operator at Munich Oktoberfest was praised for giving out free cycling shorts to female riders," Magliano stated. "Wearing the gym shorts will protect women from being upskirted, but it does make them vulnerable to something much worse."

As the audience reacted, Magliano then addressed Gillis' explicit language during his "SNL" monologue. "Last week on ‘SNL,’ comedian Shane Gillis also caused controversy by dropping the F-bomb," she said. "Oh, Shane. You’re not allowed to say that, you stupid f–king c–t."

Gillis' monologue on "SNL" on October 10 included jokes about not having been to the gym recently and commenting that women "dressed like whores now." He also used the F-word live on air during a sketch, for which he later apologized. The comedian's comments about women's gym wear prompted criticism on social media from figures including Dan Levy and Jenna Bush Hager.

Levy, in an Instagram Reel, stated, "Women wearing short shorts to the gym does not make them whores. It makes the men calling them whores misogynists. There’s a difference there." He added, "I’ve seen more men’s nipples at the gym than I’ve ever seen women showing their bodies off. I’m speechless that something like that can exist on live national television."

A representative for Gillis declined to comment when reached by Page Six.
