'Saturday Night Live' Roasts Mayor Zohran Mamdani in Season Premiere

Mayor Zohran Mamdani was the subject of a comedic sketch in the season 52 premiere of "Saturday Night Live," hosted by basketball player Jalen Brunson. The cold open, set at Gracie Mansion on the Upper East Side, depicted Mamdani, played by comedian Ramy Youssef, filming an "urgent message" for New Yorkers as a severe nor'easter storm approaches.
In the sketch, Mamdani is shown recording a TikTok video urging residents to "shelter in place, y’all," while dancing to upbeat music, a stark contrast to the impending storm's severity. The scene humorously juxtaposed the mayor's seemingly lighthearted approach with the real-world threat of the weather event.
Donald Trump, portrayed by James Austin Johnson, also made an appearance in the sketch, visiting Mamdani at his fictional home. The characters noted their shared Queens roots. Trump's fictional political aide, Natalie Harp, played by Ashley Padilla, also appeared, drenched from the storm and humorously suggesting Trump might have needed her assistance.
As the sketch concluded, Mamdani told Trump he needed to return to work. Trump insisted on staying, proposing a deal for $21 billion for a housing project in Queens. The negotiation humorously concluded with Mamdani suggesting Trump follow him on Instagram, to which Trump agreed, calling it "a done deal."
