Sarah Storey Eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing

Dame Sarah Storey has become the latest celebrity to be voted off Strictly Come Dancing. The judges unanimously chose to save House of the Dragon star Bethany Antonia and her partner Nancy Xu in the dance-off.

Storey, Britain’s most successful Paralympian with 30 Paralympic medals, including 19 golds, was partnered with professional dancer Julian Caillon. The pair found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday, scoring 21 points for their Tango. Some viewers attributed the couple's struggles to their song choice, Shania Twain's "That Don't Impress Me Much."

"I am really proud to have had a few weeks learning from this incredible chap and I've enjoyed every minute," Storey said after her elimination. Her partner, Caillon, praised her work ethic, calling her "the GOAT" and stating, "You can dance. I need you to know that."

The elimination occurred during the fourth week of the competition, which featured Icons Week, with remaining couples performing songs by artists such as Elton John, ABBA, and Adele.

Delta Goodrem did not perform due to a rib injury, and she and her partner Kai Widdrington received a bye, with hopes of returning next week.

Caillon had previously shared that he always danced in his "lucky" grey trunks from Colombia, which he described as comfortable and supportive. Ironically, these trunks did not prevent his and Storey's early exit.

Storey, who retired from elite sport in July, had been approached by Strictly bosses since 2012 but had repeatedly declined due to her children and racing commitments. She stated that she waited until she could give the competition her full attention, and that it was "the best thing you can do" when able to commit 100 percent.

Storey shares her children, Louisa, 13, and Charlie, nine, with her husband Barney Storey, a three-time Paralympic cycling champion.
