Sarah Palin Asks for Prayers for Boyfriend Ron Duguay's Cancer Battle
The former Alaska Governor shared photos on Instagram of the retired NHL star in a hospital bed as he undergoes treatment for stage four cancer.
Former Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin has requested prayers for her partner, retired NHL star Ron Duguay, who is battling stage four cancer.
Palin, 62, posted on Instagram, writing, "prayers for Ron Duguay are so appreciated." The message was accompanied by a photograph of Duguay's hand holding hers from his hospital bed. In a separate post, she shared a black and white image of herself looking at Duguay, with an inspirational quote superimposed on it: "I know God can, I'm asking him to. And even if the answer looks different, I know by now to still hold onto Him."
Duguay was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer over a year ago, and the disease has since spread to his liver.
Palin and Duguay were first linked in 2022, though they have not officially confirmed their relationship status. Palin's Instagram bio still reads "Sovereign Single Mama." Despite this, Palin has been a consistent presence during Duguay's health struggles. His daughter, Shay Thomas, has publicly commended Palin's support.
"She’s been a huge source of support. Not only for my dad, but for our entire family," Thomas told the Daily Mail. "If we ever need her for something, she would take a red-eye flight on short notice."
Thomas also recounted an instance where Palin stayed with Duguay in the hospital for five days following a surgery that involved his colon and liver, while Thomas dealt with issues concerning her own children. "If we have stuff with our kids and couldn’t make it — for example, my dad had a surgery where they went into his colon and liver — and she stayed with him in the hospital for five days," Thomas said.
Palin resides in Alaska, while Duguay has been undergoing treatment at the City of Hope in Southern California.
