Sarah Michelle Gellar Shares Her Workout Secrets
The "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star, 49, revealed her fitness routine on Instagram, emphasizing both physical and mental benefits.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, 49, offered her followers a look into her rigorous workout regimen on Sunday, detailing the exercises she employs to maintain her fitness.
In a video shared on Instagram, Gellar showcased various training sessions, including lat pulldowns to target her back muscles. She progressed to balance trainer exercises for core strength and utilized a cable straight bar for upper body work. The routine also incorporated resistance band ab crunches and standing cable rows, focusing on the back, shoulders, and arms.
The actress concluded her high-intensity workout with battle rope exercises. Gellar captioned her post, stating, "Not just about getting my body in shape, it’s also about my mind," and acknowledged her trainer and her "emotional workout support dog," Pepper.
Gellar has previously discussed her fitness philosophy with publications such as Parade and Women's Health. She highlighted the importance of incorporating weightlifting into her routine, particularly for bone density as she gets older. She works with a trainer once or twice a week for strength training and also practices Pilates.
When traveling, Gellar relies on resistance bands, which she finds versatile for hotel workouts. She also uses hotel hand towels as sliders for added challenge. For motivation, she finds working out with friends to be highly effective, making her less likely to cancel sessions.
Gellar's approach to nutrition emphasizes balance, as she stated in an interview with Women's Health that she does not advocate for complete elimination of foods, believing it leads to increased cravings. Her mantra is moderation, with a particular fondness for French cuisine.
In recent personal news, Gellar celebrated her children's birthdays, with her daughter Charlotte turning 17 and her son Rocky turning 14 within a day of each other. She also commemorated her 24th wedding anniversary to actor Freddie Prinze Jr., whom she met on the set of the 1997 film "I Know What You Did Last Summer."
