Sarah Michelle Gellar recently shared a heartwarming snapshot celebrating her daughter Charlotte's 17th birthday. In the photo, the 49-year-old actress is seen embracing her daughter, who bears a striking resemblance to her father, Freddie Prinze Jr., 50.
“Yesterday was my best friend’s birthday @charlotteprinze I’m not sure how you are 17 already,” Gellar wrote in an Instagram caption. She continued, “You may have been the child that made me a mom, but now you are the person that brings out the best in me. (Not to mention my biggest champion) Thank you… for being you.”
The couple, who married in 2002, also share a 13-year-old son, Rocky James. Gellar and Prinze Jr. first met on the set of the 1997 film I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Earlier this month, Gellar marked her 24th wedding anniversary by sharing a series of throwback photos from the early days of their relationship. The couple, who have been together for nearly two-and-a-half decades, have become known as one of Hollywood's more enduring couples.
They were friends for several years before their relationship turned romantic. Prinze Jr. recalled in an interview that their first date was unplanned, evolving from a group outing that ended with just the two of them.
The couple's shared professional history includes starring in the live-action Scooby-Doo films released in 2002 and 2004, as well as the 2006 animated film Happily N'Ever After, where they both lent their voices to characters. They welcomed their first child in 2009 and their second in 2012.
