Sarah Michelle Gellar celebrated 24 years of marriage to actor Freddie Prinze Jr. by sharing a series of throwback photos on Instagram. Gellar, 49, posted the images Tuesday, looking back at the early days of their relationship.

The couple, who have been married for nearly two and a half decades, met on the set of the 1997 film "I Know What You Did Last Summer." Gellar included photos from that era in her anniversary post, captioned, "@realfreddieprinze can you imagine telling these kids where they would be 24 years later (well tech 26… but 24 married) #happyanniversary."

Prinze Jr., 50, recalled their beginnings in an interview last year, stating they were friends for a couple of years before dating. They lived near each other, which helped maintain their friendship before it evolved into a romantic relationship. Their first date was a surprise, turning a group outing into a dinner for two when other friends canceled.

The couple dated for a few years before Prinze Jr. proposed in 2001. Gellar previously mentioned she preferred a private proposal over a public one. They married in 2002.

Following their marriage, Gellar and Prinze Jr. collaborated on several projects, including the "Scooby-Doo" live-action films released in 2002 and 2004, and the 2006 animated film "Happily N'Ever After," where they both provided voice acting.

They expanded their family, welcoming a daughter, Charlotte Grace, in 2009, and a son, Rocky James, in 2012. Charlotte is now 16, and Rocky is 13.
