Saquon Barkley Pushing Through Injuries, Eyes Sunday Return

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley is expected to play Sunday against the Commanders after being removed from the injury report, despite ongoing hamstring and back concerns.

Barkley, 29, expressed his determination to be on the field, stating, "One day, I’m not going to be playing football. Whenever that is, I’m going to look back. I don’t want to look back and be like, ‘I could have gave it a chance and I didn’t.’ That’s kind of what I live by. So I try my best to just keep recovering, being smart, but I like playing football. If I have an opportunity to play, I’m going to try my best to play."

He returned to action Monday against the Dallas Cowboys after missing the previous two games with a hamstring strain. Barkley appeared to reaggravate the injury on his first play, a 29-yard run, and also experienced back discomfort, making multiple trips to the sideline medical tent. He was limited to nine snaps in that game but still managed 62 rushing yards on seven carries.

"I don’t get it. I just have to find a way to get healthy," Barkley said after the Cowboys game. "It’s annoying. That’s what I’m dealing with so far in the season, and I just got to find a way to get healthy."

The Eagles are currently 2-5 and have lost five consecutive games heading into their Week 8 matchup with Washington.
