Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley has divested his equity stake in the prediction market platform Polymarket following directives from the National Football League. The league's rules prohibit players from investing in or endorsing companies involved in gambling or prediction markets.

Barkley told Front Office Sports that any association with prediction markets is no longer permissible under NFL regulations. While Barkley has been linked to speculation regarding potential trades from the Eagles, his focus has shifted to complying with league policies regarding his business interests.

Other major professional sports leagues in the United States, including the NBA, Major League Baseball, NHL, and MLS, have established partnerships with prediction market platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket. Notably, LeBron James of the Philadelphia 76ers reportedly earns $15 million annually as a paid endorser for Polymarket and has appeared in promotional content alongside other athletes.

Prediction markets allow users to trade on the outcomes of future events, with sports-related predictions constituting a significant portion of the activity on these platforms.

Barkley has been dealing with injuries this season, missing two games and currently listed as questionable for the Eagles' upcoming game against Washington. He has accumulated 244 rushing yards this season. The Eagles currently hold a 2-5 record as they head into Week 8.
