Saoirse Ronan leads the cast of "Bad Apples," a satirical black comedy that centers on a dedicated but overwhelmed teacher. Directed by Swede Jonatan Etzler, the film is set in a primary school in West England and draws inspiration from a Swedish novel.

Ronan portrays Maria, a teacher who feels teaching is her calling but struggles to manage the disruptive behavior of an 11-year-old student named Danny, played by Eddie Waller. Danny's insolence and disobedience create significant challenges in the classroom, and Maria's requests for his removal are dismissed by the headteacher, who insists managing difficult children is part of her job.

The narrative escalates when Danny's disruptive actions lead to him being locked in Maria's basement.
