Saoirse Ronan Addresses Rumors of Husband Jack Lowden Becoming Next James Bond

Saoirse Ronan has offered a telling reaction to persistent rumors suggesting her husband, actor Jack Lowden, is being considered for the role of James Bond. When asked about the speculation during an interview with the Associated Press, Ronan indicated that she and Lowden are prioritizing other aspects of their lives.

"Well, Gary Oldman thinks he’s James Bond," Ronan said, referencing Lowden's "Slow Horses" co-star. "We’re kinda getting on with our life, to be honest. We have plenty of other things to be dealing with."

Ronan added that the casting rumors are not a topic of discussion in their household, noting, "The dog needs to be walked, the dinner needs to be made — we’re most focused on that." She also mentioned that Lowden is currently engaged in filming "Slow Horses" and "currently having a good time on that."

The speculation surrounding Lowden's potential casting gained momentum after Gary Oldman suggested his co-star was a frontrunner for the iconic spy role. Last month, Oldman told Canada's Global News, "It’s been rumored that he’s on the shortlist... They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet. So my fingers are crossed for Jack."

Oldman made these remarks at a panel at the Toronto International Film Festival, where he also alluded to a shortlist of six actors being considered. He humorously added that he has little actual insight into the casting process.

Lowden, 36, has not directly commented on the James Bond rumors himself. He and Ronan have been married since 2024. Ronan, however, previously expressed interest in playing a Bond villain, telling Empire magazine in August that she was "dead serious" about the idea.

The search for the next James Bond has been ongoing since Daniel Craig's departure from the franchise after "No Time to Die" in 2021. Amazon MGM Studios, which took over creative control of the Bond franchise in February 2025, is reportedly seeking an actor to lead the next installment, which is expected to be directed by Denis Villeneuve.

Several actors, including Jacob Elordi, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Callum Turner, Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, and Jack Barton, have been rumored as potential candidates for the role. Page Six Hollywood reported that Jack Barton is considered a favorite, despite having a less prominent profile.
