Sandra Bullock was seen in Beverly Hills on Tuesday, marking a rare public outing shortly after she spoke publicly for the first time about the death of her partner, Bryan Randall. The actress, 62, was accompanied by her 12-year-old daughter, Laila, during the errand run. Bullock appeared to keep a low profile, wearing a baseball cap and dark sunglasses.

In a recent interview on the SmartLess podcast, Bullock shared that she spent four years grieving as Randall battled amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a process that continued until his death in August 2023 at the age of 57. "Where he was in his journey, both physically and mentally, I started grieving Bryan four years before he passed. There was something that had shifted," she stated. "My person left a lot earlier than the body left. I don't think I ever dealt with that until after he passed, because you're just on this treadmill."

The couple met in January 2015 when Bullock hired Randall to photograph her son's birthday party, and they began dating afterward. Together, they helped raise Bullock's adopted children, Laila and Louis, 16. Bullock also discussed the isolation she felt when Randall asked her to keep his diagnosis private. "He asked me not to share. I know why he asked me not to… At first I go, 'Oh, I can handle that. I can be quiet. I don't wanna harm others because of what I do. So I think not talking for a while was good."

She explained that the timing of his diagnosis coincided with the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. "The diagnosis came almost at the same time with the cloak of the pandemic. So as the pandemic came down, and I have a child with severe asthma, I was panicking," she said. "I had two young kids that were navigating it, especially a little girl who saw him as a father figure... I wasn't allowed to tell anybody. My sister was the only one who knew for, for a while. It's a huge weight."
Bullock eventually confided in two close friends, Amanda Anka, wife of podcast host Jason Bateman, and actress Jennifer Aniston. She described managing Randall's symptoms, raising her children, and dealing with the pandemic as a "trifecta that was pretty dark." Bullock mentioned experiencing this emotional strain while also promoting a film, noting, "I had to release a film at the same time and talk about gray. I saw myself on the red carpet and I was like, I just look at my face. And I am, I'm a woodblock."
Bullock had largely withdrawn from public life after stepping back from Hollywood in 2022. Her upcoming film, "Practical Magic 2," a sequel reuniting her with Nicole Kidman, is scheduled for release in U.S. theaters on September 11 and internationally on September 9. This marks her first acting role in several years.
