Actress Sandra Bullock has offered a rare glimpse into her personal life, speaking about her daughter's encouragement to date and reflecting on the final years of her late partner Bryan Randall's life. Three years after Randall's death from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) at age 57, Bullock, 62, appeared on Kylie Kelce's podcast "Not Gonna Lie."

During the podcast, Bullock recounted a conversation with her 12-year-old daughter, Laila, who suggested she start dating again. "She said I needed to date, but only someone where they could get stuff," Bullock shared, humorously questioning if her daughter meant "a rapper, a basketball player." She added that her children are primarily interested in whether she returns home with gifts for them, joking that her role in their lives has always been "craft service."

Bullock also spoke about Randall's decision to keep his ALS diagnosis private. "He asked me not to share. I know why he asked me not to," she said, noting that only her sister initially knew about his condition. Protecting Randall's privacy, she explained, led to her feeling isolated, particularly as the pandemic began and she worried about her children, one of whom has severe asthma. "I have two young kids that were navigating it, especially a little girl who saw him as a father figure," Bullock recalled. "I wasn't allowed to tell anybody.... It's a huge weight."

She eventually confided in close friends, including Jennifer Aniston and Amanda Anka, Bateman's wife. ALS is described by the Mayo Clinic as a disease affecting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Bullock mentioned that she felt she was "grieving Bryan four years before he passed" due to the rapid progression of the disease.

Bullock reiterated her commitment to her children, stating that her professional decisions are guided by her time with them. "My kids are my everything, so if it doesn’t work for them and my time with them, then I’m not doing it," she told Kelce. "And I’m lucky. I’m lucky that I’m one of the moms that gets to be with her kids all the time. I have no desire to leave my kids."

Her children, son Louis (16) and daughter Laila (12), have brief, non-obvious cameos in the upcoming "Practical Magic 2," scheduled for release on September 10. Bullock reprises her role as Sally Owens in the sequel to the 1998 film.

Previously, Bullock was married to motorbike builder Jesse James from 2005 to 2010. Their marriage ended amidst allegations of infidelity on James's part.
