A San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency train operator has been removed from driving duties following an incident on July 31 where the operator allegedly fell asleep at the controls. The collision involved two L Taraval trains and occurred around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of 47th Avenue and Wawona Street.

Footage of the incident appears to show the operator dozing off shortly before the two trains impacted each other. Two passengers were on board one of the trains at the time of the crash but did not sustain any injuries. The agency’s preliminary assessment indicates that operator fatigue was the cause of the collision, though a full investigation is ongoing.
