San Francisco, San Jose Named Top Markets for Home Sellers
A new analysis from WalletHub ranks two California cities among the best markets for those looking to sell their homes.
San Francisco and San Jose have been recognized as leading markets for home sellers in the United States, according to a recent ranking by WalletHub. San Francisco secured the second spot overall, while San Jose was placed eighth in the analysis, which identifies the top 15 buyer's and seller's markets across the country.
The ranking found Rochester, New York, to be the top market for sellers, followed by Syracuse, New York, Hartford, Connecticut, and Albany, New York, rounding out the top five.
Conversely, the study identified Jackson, Mississippi, as the number one buyer's market, with Cape Coral and Miami in Florida also ranking high for buyers.
This latest analysis follows a previous WalletHub report on the best real estate markets, which also featured several California cities among the top 30. In that study, Irvine ranked 10th, Roseville 12th, and Santa Clara 29th.
Recent data indicates a strong housing market in California. The median home price in the state reached $930,260 in May, marking a 2.3% increase from April and a 3.1% rise compared to the previous year. Within the Bay Area specifically, the median price for a single-family home saw a 3.6% increase in May, reaching $1.45 million.
