A 45-foot-tall nude female sculpture, a prominent fixture on San Francisco's Embarcadero Plaza, is now available for purchase or lease. The artwork, originally titled "R-Evolution" and now known as "I Am," was created by artist Marco Cochrane and modeled after dancer and singer Deja Solis.
Cochrane stated that the sculpture is "up for sale and lease" and encouraged interested parties to contact him. The 13,000-pound artwork is expected to command a price well into the six figures, with installation costs alone having reached approximately $300,000. A spokesperson for Building 180, which collaborates with Cochrane, indicated that the sculpture is on temporary loan and is available for acquisition, emphasizing that "great public artworks shouldn’t return to storage—they deserve to find permanent homes where they can continue to inspire."
The colossal figure, composed of seven parts, features a "breathing" effect where its metal chest expands and contracts, and is illuminated at two periods daily. The sculpture was part of the privately funded Big Art Loop project, which aims to place 100 large-scale temporary sculptures in public spaces across San Francisco over several years.
The sculpture is scheduled to be disassembled and removed from San Francisco in October. Interested buyers will require a crew and specialized equipment, including a crane and forklift, for its deconstruction and reassembly.
