The San Diego Zoo welcomed a newborn Linnaeus's two-toed sloth pup on Aug. 16, a development the zoo announced on Oct. 20 to coincide with National Sloth Day. The arrival was shared via an "adorable video" featuring the newborn snuggled with its mother, Xena.

Xena, who serves as a wildlife ambassador at the zoo, will continue her duties, allowing guests to see the pair in the coming weeks. The zoo, which houses over 12,000 animals across its 100 acres, has not yet publicly announced the name of the new offspring. Social media reactions to the video expressed delight, with one commenter noting the mother's role in raising her baby while also participating in ambassadorial presentations. The birth adds to the zoo's population of two-toed sloths.
