Oscar nominee Samantha Morton shared that she has not worked in a year since filming Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," attributing the shift to changes within the film industry and her age.

Morton, 49, stated on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast that despite having reputable agents and management, the "politics of the industry has changed massively." She acknowledged that while she believes in her acting abilities, the competitive landscape means other talented actors are also seeking roles.

"Whilst I do believe I’m a good actor, there are other good actors out there," Morton said during the podcast episode released Monday.

Her comments echo sentiments shared by other actresses regarding ageism in Hollywood. Anne Hathaway previously recalled being warned that career opportunities would diminish significantly after she turned 35. Similarly, Kim Cattrall described 35 as an "expiration date" for actresses in a 2016 interview.

Despite these challenges, Morton expressed optimism about her future career, stating she anticipates continuing to work into her 80s.
