Samantha Armytage, the host of "The Golden Bachelor," will not be returning to the "Today" show as planned this week after sustaining a fractured ankle. Armytage, 49, informed her Instagram followers on Tuesday that the injury occurred over the weekend while she was performing the mundane task of taking out the rubbish.
Describing the incident, Armytage explained that she missed the bottom step and twisted her ankle. She clarified that she was wearing athletic shoes at the time, not heels. "I have torn all the ligaments away from the bone and part of the bone away," she stated, noting that her ankle was fractured in "a couple of places."
Despite the painful setback, Armytage maintained a positive outlook, expressing her intention to return to air. She shared that she was working on ways to accommodate her foot brace for broadcast. She also humorously noted the influx of unusual online messages she received after posting a photo of her swollen ankle, with some commenters focusing on her toenail polish or the appearance of her feet.
This incident follows a previous health concern for Armytage, who underwent a hip replacement operation two years ago due to severe osteoarthritis. She had announced the surgery in July 2024, explaining that years of an active childhood and a skiing accident had led to the deterioration of cartilage in her right hip, resulting in bone-on-bone friction and severe osteoarthritis.
