Samantha Armytage Launches New Project After Passing on Today Show Hosting Gig

Samantha Armytage, 50, has announced an exciting new project titled 'Act Two With Samantha Armytage,' signaling a new chapter in her career after she was not selected to host the Today show. The former Sunrise host shared the news on Instagram, posting a glamorous photo with a cryptic caption: "Something REALLY exciting is coming REALLY soon." The post included emojis of a TV, microphone, guitar, and rocket, and was flagged for AI content, though the specific AI-generated elements were not detailed.

Fans expressed enthusiasm for Armytage's announcement. The news comes after Armytage reflected on Nine's decision to appoint Sylvia Jeffreys and Tom Steinfort as the new hosts of the Today show following the departures of Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo. Armytage had been considered a potential contender for the hosting role.

Speaking to the Daily Mail at the Channel Nine Upfronts last month, Armytage stated that returning to breakfast television would have been a step backward in her career. "This was never about me going back into breakfast television. This was always a fill-in, which I was happy to do when Sarah was on maternity leave," she explained. She emphasized her extensive experience, having spent 15 years in breakfast television, including eight years hosting Seven's Sunrise.

"I feel like going back into breakfast TV would have been going backwards, and I don't want to do that at 50," Armytage said. "I'm in forward motion and watch... well, watch this space."
