Samantha Armytage Embraces '80s Aesthetic for 'The Golden Bachelor' Promo

Samantha Armytage has unveiled a retro-inspired promotional image for the upcoming season of "The Golden Bachelor," embracing an '80s aesthetic through artificial intelligence.

The presenter shared the AI-generated portrait on social media, which depicts her in a low-cut gold romper and matching boots, complete with a voluminous hairstyle reminiscent of the 1980s. Armytage humorously captioned the image, noting the striking resemblance between her '80s avatar and her current appearance, and expressed her fondness for the generated picture.

"I'm late to the party on last week's fad... proudly & as usual. But my mate/Golden Bach EP Vanessa Oxlad kindly ran my pic through the 80's app this morning (as I didn't know how…)," Armytage wrote. "And 2 things stand out; No, not those things… 1. 80's Sam is EXACTLY the same as 2026 Sam. And 2. I have never loved a pic of myself more." She added, "I am nothing if not consistent through the decades."

Armytage also recently revealed a significant twist for the second season of "The Golden Bachelor." Speaking at the Channel Nine Upfronts, she announced that the upcoming season will feature two Golden Bachelors, promising more drama and complexity. "We've got two Golden Bachelors in season two, so there was a lot more going on," she stated. "It was a lot busier, a lot more chaos, a lot more drama, which of course, you know, it's reality TV. We love that. We lean into that."

In other television news, Armytage commented on Nine's decision to appoint Sylvia Jeffreys and Tom Steinfort as the new hosts of "Today." Having previously hosted the show during Sarah Abo's maternity leave, Armytage reflected on her time in breakfast television. She stated that after 15 years, including eight years on Seven's "Sunrise," she was ambivalent about returning to the demanding schedule permanently. "This was never about me going back into breakfast television. This was always a fill-in, which I was happy to do when Sarah was on maternity leave," she explained. Armytage expressed satisfaction with the outcome, feeling that returning to breakfast television would have been a step backward at this stage of her career.

She also voiced her support for Jeffreys' appointment, describing it as a "changing of the guard" and advocating for fresh talent on screen. "I think Sylvia is a fabulous choice - I think it's a wonderful changing of the guard, actually. It's time for some fresh faces. Let's get these younger female talent onto our screens," Armytage said, wishing the new hosts success.
