Sam Wood Seeks Bail After Domestic Violence Charges
The former Bachelor star is seeking release from prison on Friday, nearly a month after his arrest for alleged assault and strangulation of his wife.
Former Bachelor star Sam Wood is scheduled to appear before the Brisbane Supreme Court on Friday, seeking bail after spending almost a month in custody. Wood was arrested on October 3 on charges of assault occasioning bodily harm and strangulation in a domestic setting, stemming from an alleged incident at his family's holiday accommodation in Noosa.
Wood's legal team will also apply for non-publication orders, which, if granted, would restrict media reporting on the case outside of court proceedings. The bail hearing will be presided over by Justice Patrick McCafferty. Should bail be approved, Wood would be permitted to leave jail and potentially reside at an interstate address while the charges are processed.
During his initial bail hearing at Maroochydore Magistrates Court, Wood's lawyers reportedly denied allegations of strangulation. They indicated that Wood's account of the events may support a claim of self-defense. The court heard that the alleged incident occurred as the couple was preparing to return home to Melbourne with their three young daughters and Wood's stepdaughter, Eve Markoski-Wood. Court documents stated that an argument ensued, during which Wood allegedly grabbed Snezana by the throat, threw her against a wall, and then restricted her breathing while she was on the ground. Snezana reportedly told police that she feared for her life during the ordeal. Ms. Markoski-Wood allegedly intervened and contacted emergency services after witnessing the altercation.
In parallel developments, the fitness company founded by Sam Wood, 28 by Sam Wood, has undergone a rebranding. The parent company, Australian Life Tech, was sold to myDNA for approximately $71 million in 2022, though Wood remained involved. Following Wood's arrest, parent company DBF Health terminated commercial arrangements with him. The business has since rebranded to Evvr, announcing the change on Instagram with a video featuring various fitness trainers. The company stated that the rebranding signifies a new chapter while retaining its core community and popular workouts.
