Sam Wood's Gym Signage Covered as Property Deals Complicated by Arrest

Signage at Sam Wood's Melbourne gym, The Woodshed, has been painted over as celebrities and businesses distance themselves from the former reality television star following his arrest on domestic violence charges. Wood, 46, remains in custody after being refused bail on allegations involving his wife, Snezana Wood, 45, at a Noosa holiday accommodation on October 3. His lawyer has stated that Wood denies the allegations and will defend the charges.

Images taken outside the Brighton gym show its name and a photo of Wood have been painted over on the building's exterior. However, the gym is understood to remain operational, and reports indicate no contact has been made between gym employees and Wood since his arrest. The Woodshed has not addressed the arrest on social media, and photographs of Wood were still featured on its website as of Sunday morning.

Property Deals in Uncertainty

The developments come as two multimillion-dollar property deals involving Wood in Brighton have been thrown into uncertainty. Wood had agreed to purchase a luxury home estimated to be worth more than $6 million and was preparing to list another property when he was charged. The home Wood agreed to buy features seven bedrooms, a pool, and a tennis court and is reportedly owned by Shara Healy, the former wife of media businessman Antony Catalano.

Wood and his wife purchased a $7.15 million property on Hanby Street last year, which settled in January. This five-bedroom home also includes a tennis court and pool. Real estate sources indicated that Wood was days away from listing the Hanby Street home when news of his arrest broke. The property owned by Healy is a short drive away, and Wood had reportedly negotiated to live there during a lengthy settlement period of about 12 months. The campaign to sell the Hanby Street home was reportedly set to begin with Jellis Craig in Brighton, though its progression remains unclear.

Court Allegations

On Thursday, Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard that Snezana Wood feared for her life during an alleged altercation at their Noosa holiday rental. It is alleged a dispute occurred as the couple packed to return home to Melbourne. Wood is accused of putting his hands around his wife's throat, forcing her to the floor, pinning her down, and banging her head, leaving her unable to breathe. She reportedly told police she believed her life was going to end. The court also heard allegations of a previous domestic violence incident at their home in Victoria, over which Wood was not charged.

Business Repercussions

A number of Australian celebrities and companies have severed ties with Wood's businesses following his arrest. Wood founded the fitness and training business 28 by Sam Wood, which he sold for $71 million in 2022 but remained the face of the online platform. Celebrity trainer Tiffiny Hall announced she was no longer affiliated with the brand, stating she has "zero tolerance for domestic and family violence." Actress Tammin Sursok has also paused her partnership and removed promotional content from her social media channels. Entrepreneur Jules Robinson has ended her partnership with Wood, and the ready-made meal business Foxes Den confirmed it was stepping away from its collaboration. Additionally, the 28 By Sam Wood Menopause Community Facebook page has rebranded, removing Wood's name from the title.
