New Orleans Saints rookie wide receiver Brock Rechsteiner has been suspended for six games by the NFL, the league announced Thursday. The specific reason for the suspension was not disclosed.

Rechsteiner, who joined the Saints as an undrafted free agent after the April draft, can still participate in training camp and preseason games. This allows him to compete for a spot on the 53-man roster. He also remains eligible to be named to a practice squad during his suspension.

Rechsteiner's path to making the team has seen some developments that could open up roster spots. The retirement of former Patriots receiver Ja’Lynn Polk and a season-ending knee injury to Bryan Bresee have created additional openings.

Rechsteiner, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner, has expressed interest in pursuing a career in professional wrestling after his football aspirations. He told WDSU-TV in May that he works out with Bron Breakker and that Breakker has encouraged him to get into wrestling once his football career concludes.

"I want to play football for as long as I can, give it the best shot I can, but once I’m done playing football, I’ll get into it, for sure. I’ll be getting into WWE," Rechsteiner stated.

During his college career at Jacksonville State, Rechsteiner played four seasons, accumulating 630 yards, 52 catches, and seven touchdowns in 35 games. His collegiate highlights include an 85-yard touchdown reception in a game against Southern Mississippi.
