Saints Quarterback Tyler Shough to Play Through Broken Hand Bones

New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough is set to play against the New York Giants on Sunday, even with two broken bones in his non-throwing left hand. Shough sustained the injuries during the team's Week 5 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Shough was a full participant in practice this week and does not appear on the official injury report. Last week, he played with his two middle fingers taped together and a protective glove over his hand. He opted to hand off the ball with his right hand during the game against the Vikings and intends to continue this approach as long as the hand injuries persist.

Photos from recent warmups show Shough again wearing a glove on his left hand, with tape around his pinkie and ring fingers.

Shough, a second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has accumulated 1,299 passing yards with nine touchdowns and five interceptions through five games this season. However, his performance in last week's 23-13 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings was limited to 96 passing yards and two interceptions.

Earlier in the week, Shough acknowledged Saints owner Gayle Benson's statement that the team's 1-4 start was "not acceptable." He expressed confidence, however, that the team has a strong opportunity to embark on a winning streak.

The Saints are scheduled to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Paris next week, followed by a bye in Week 7.
