Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews responded to a fast-moving blaze that erupted Monday afternoon, tearing through two homes in Antelope. Dramatic video released by the fire district shows firefighters sprinting into smoke-filled structures, battling flames that had already spread to the second floors and burst through the roofs.

The fire, which began outside between the two residences, quickly escalated, prompting an immediate second alarm for additional resources. Firefighters can be seen in the footage advancing hoses through blackened interiors coated in ash and blasting water into burning attics. In one instance, a crew used an axe to force open a rear door near a barbecue area to attack flames.

The coordinated effort by the fire crews ultimately contained the inferno to the two damaged homes, successfully preventing it from engulfing neighboring houses. The incident occurred on Tawny Meadow Way, near Elverta Road and North Loop Boulevard, around 2:30 p.m. on Monday.

Both homeowners had safely evacuated the properties before firefighters arrived on the scene. No residents or firefighters sustained injuries during the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

This Antelope blaze was one of three fires reported in the Sacramento area around the same time Monday afternoon. Other incidents occurred in Sacramento's East Del Paso Heights neighborhood and in Roseville. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District took the opportunity to remind residents of the importance of working smoke alarms, emphasizing that they provide critical early warning for safe evacuation.
