Ryan Seacrest has revealed why he was unable to attend the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, despite having RSVP'd yes. The television host explained on his radio show that a work obligation for a Fourth of July special conflicted with the date of the ceremony.

Seacrest, 51, had informed Swift and Kelce, both 36, that he would be attending their wedding, which was held at Madison Square Garden in New York City on the eve of the July 4th holiday. However, he was subsequently hired by Disney to host the "Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th" special in Nashville on July 3rd and 4th.

"I RSVP'd to go and then Disney hired me to do the 4th of July 250 special on the 3rd and the 4th, and so I had to cancel," Seacrest stated. He explained that he could not be in two places at once, as the wedding was scheduled for the afternoon while his hosting gig required his presence during that time.

Seacrest mentioned that he ran into Swift and Kelce at a restaurant after sending back his RSVP. He recalled that Swift had expressed her excitement for the event, saying, "It's going to be so much fun. We're going to have the best time. It's going to go late." It was during this encounter that Seacrest also met Travis Kelce for the first time.

He expressed that he was honored to be invited and was genuinely torn about having to cancel. "It wasn't a waste! I was actually really excited. I was kind of torn," he said, defending his absence to his cohosts. "I went through the minutes. I couldn't have done both."

Seacrest, who had previously offered to officiate Swift and Kelce's wedding during an appearance Swift made on his radio show in October, noted that his work with Disney was a non-negotiable commitment. "It was part of my job at Disney to do these things. It was work," he stated. He did, however, give the couple a shoutout on his show.

Swift and Kelce tied the knot on Friday, with the ceremony taking place at Madison Square Garden. Seacrest's conflicting hosting duties meant he was in Nashville for his Fourth of July special instead of attending the celebrity-filled wedding.
