Ryan Pulock Injured in Islanders' Latest Setback
Defenseman Ryan Pulock left Thursday's game against the Minnesota Wild with an upper-body injury after playing just 51 seconds, adding to the New York Islanders' early-season injury concerns.
The New York Islanders' injury woes continued Thursday night as defenseman Ryan Pulock exited their game against the Minnesota Wild with an upper-body injury. Pulock left the ice early in the first period after playing only 51 seconds and did not return.
This latest incident leaves the Islanders with five defensemen for the remainder of the game. The team is already managing injuries to other key players. Calum Ritchie and Matias Maccelli are both sidelined with lower-body injuries, and Mat Barzal remains out due to a flare-up in his left knee.
Should Pulock require additional recovery time, the team has Matt Kessel available as a potential replacement. However, the Islanders currently do not carry an extra forward on their roster and would need to call up a player if they wish to maintain an extra defenseman.
Following their game against the Wild, the Islanders are scheduled to face the Edmonton Oilers at home on Halloween afternoon. They then have a four-day break before resuming their schedule with a three-game homestand against the Carolina Hurricanes.
